This scheme unlocks the inherent potential of a seaside property in Brighton with an ingenious solution that gains space. The design also works to bring continuity to the front and rear elevations. By delicately positioning the stairs above the entrance portico access to the loft space is granted to the most usable part of the floor. The layout of the plan is carefully considered to give a generous wet room, open plan office and master bedroom. This bedroom is orientated to focus complete attention on the impressive view over Brighton bay to the Isle of Wight. Floor to ceiling glazing units that echo the pitch of the roof further enhance this aspect. The interventions combine to add space, continuity and vistas and in doing so elevate a normal dwelling into a special house.
